The properties of mineral mortars and sealing slurries are considerably improved by using additives. In accordance to the product these additives lead to increased watertightness or have elastifying effects. Furthermore they avoid the early burn out of mineral products on dry surfaces.
Our concrete and mortar additives stand out due to the multi-purpose application properties. E.g. the KÖSTER SB Bonding Emulsion can be used as a plastic dispersion in mortars, plasters, sealing slurries and concrete.
We recommend the use of these additives for many of our waterproofing systems. The necessary addition varies according to the field of application and the desired operation.
This product group contains waterproofing systems on a mineral base, injection liquids for sealing against rising dampness and anti mould systems.
Our mineral sealing systems used for the loading case "pressurised water" are complemented by products for sealing against flowing water. Which of these systems is appropriate and should be used can be decided during restoration work according to the conditions found at construction site. By impregnation, which means by creation of a water-repellent surface, a permanent protection is achieved. For facades liquid or past-like waterproofing materials are used to receive a diffusion-open, watertight impregnation. This impregnation is also followed by less consumption of energy, because a dry facade has a higher insulation value than a wet facade.
Concrete and other mineral substrates are also damaged by salts and gas, often specially in agricultural buildings. Hence it is necessary to provide an appropriate concrete protection when new biogas plants are build. This is a product group that caters for a large field of application. All products in this group are mineral based.
The main focus is on the restoration plasters of KÖSTER BAUCHEMIE which are successfully applied for decades in order to repair and restore salt- and moisture-contaminated masonry. The properties arise from the requirements for restoration plasters which have to allow the masonry to dry. Furthermore they must provide for an increased porosity and hydrophobic effects in combination with resistance to salts. The criteria for restoration plasters are defined and approved with a CE label in accordance to DIN EN 998-1. The KÖSTER restoration plasters are approved and labeled accordingly!
Mortar systems play an important role in the field of construction waterproofing. Depending on the field of application a large variety of requirements apply, e.g. high compressive strength, short curing time, high tensile strength and water tightness. You can choose the necessary product with the needed combination of chemical properties from the product range of KÖSTER BAUCHEMIE according to the loading case.
Under the product category KÖSTER Betomor® you will find products for concrete restoration or concrete replacement. A silicate mortar with chemical resistance is used for floor and wall areas with the need for a high chemical resistance (up to pH 0).
The polyurethane and epoxy resins manufactured by KÖSTER BAUCHEMIE are applied in waterproofing of buildings in a wide spectrum of applications. Due to their versatile properties, they are suited for waterproofing as well as for visual floor coatings.
Especially in the area of injection resins on polyurethane basis, KÖSTER is able to offer suited materials for all applications – no matter if purely a waterproofing effect is intended or if structural concerns play a role. Usually, PU-materials are elastic waterproofing systems but it is also possible to use these materials for injection where bridging of structural strength is required. For waterproofing of water bearing cracks and joints where usually various different products have to be applied we can offer you KÖSTER KB-Pur 2 IN 1 which is a real product highlight. This material is used as injection foam (water stopper) as well as for elastic sealing.
KÖSTER offers a gel for injection on polyurethane basis. Here also the advantage lies in the high security of the application; on top of that, it forms a wide field of application, e. g. curtain injection and area injection as well as waterproofing of dilatation joints.
The selection of synthetic resin coatings, as KÖSTER BAUCHEMIE offers them in this product group, depends on the stresses which the floor is exposed to: in industrial construction, different demands are made on these materials as in construction of private homes – for both you can find suited products in our program which are also characterized by high resistance to chemicals..
This product group offers various materials which have one thing in common: they are enhanced with special plastic materials.
Synthetic coatings are used to restore the functionality of roof waterproofings (combined with visual advantages) as well as for highly flexible waterproofing underneath ceramic tiles etc. in wet rooms.
Our primers always offer the base for a secure function of the waterproofing, no matter what kind of waterproofing is desired. They strengthen the surface, bind dust on the substrate and ensure an excellent bonding of the waterproofing which will be applied. Regardless of the environmental conditions (temperature, moisture etc.) – we have the products which fulfill the required characteristics in our product line.
Movements of the construction members must – in wall areas as well as in floor areas – be compensated via the existing joints. The materials which are used for joint sealing thus are exposed to intensive stresses such as compression, shearing and elongation.
In order to resist these stresses, the most important characteristic of these materials is that they are ductile. But also other product characteristics are required - depending on the field of application – and these are certainly also fulfilled by the KÖSTER products.
Sealing pastes are used e. g. when pipe and cable penetrations though walls have to be waterproofed. With the permanently plastic sealing paste KÖSTER KB Flex 200, waterproofing can be carried out even in case of flowing, pressurised water. An essential advantage also lies in the adhesion to almost all substrates.
When using waterproofing systems and different material bases, it automatically comes to soilings. Every tool must be cleaned after use.
Fitting to all KÖSTER waterproofing materials on bitumen, minerals, polyurethane or epoxy resin bases the appropriate cleaning agents for removal of residues are available. Special cleaning agents ensure that tools and substrates can be cleaned completely without residues.
Waterproofing buildings with sheet membranes is becoming more and more important in the field of preservation of structures. The main advantages are the uniform layer thickness and the immediate waterproofing effect.
The base of our cold self-adhesive waterproofing membranes KÖSTER Bikuplan® is bitumen with a high portion of rubber contents, which provides very good adhesion and an extreme elasticity of the membranes. The product range contains membranes for different requirements with various top laminates, from the highly tear-resistant polyethelene foil to the vapour-tight aluminium foil. The necessary equipment for fixing the membranes and for sealing fillets and connections is certainly available as well.
Because of their waterproofing characteristics, the KÖSTER Bikuplan® membranes are not only suitable for waterproofing, but also for sealing against wind in the area of window connections and joints in façades, as well as against radon from the ground.
Since it is our desire to offer you all products necessary to install waterproofing systems from one source, we also offer the necessary accessories. Materials, for example, which are required for the functionality of a waterproofing system or for the fulfillment of the DIN guidelines.
This includes reinforcing materials such as reinforcing mesh or flex fabric which provide a structural improvement within different waterproofing products. Especially in areas which are in danger of cracking, reinforcements are a necessity.
According to DIN 18195 it is also required to protect the waterproofing itself. The KÖSTER SD Protection and Drainage Sheet functions as an additional drainage which leads the water away from the building.
